Holding the Deck

Some games, such as stud poker, blackjack, and in between, don't require the dealer to hold the deck at all because the cards are dealt face up. The only time the deck should be held is when the cards are being dealt face down to players.

If there is question as to why a dealer is holding the deck in a game that it doesn't need to be held in, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask the dealer why he is holding the deck in his hands. You may just catch a cheat in action... or at least prevent one from conning you.
